ps - Oops. Tried to attach some photos but keep getting error messages that the files are too large. If someone has any tips on how I can do this successfully, please let me know.
Thanks for logging on to our website and leaving us your great memories. There any number of free programs you can download from the internet that will allow you to crop down the size of your photos. I suggest keeping the overall width of the photo to between 1600 and 800 pixels. The maximum file size allowed is 512 KB. Many good cell phone cameras take photos that are very large and have file sizes up to 2.5 MB. Unfortunately I don't have unlimited space on the webserver and just can't host unlimited file sizes. You could also post your photos on another server somewhere else and link to them in a posting here.

I was there for only a short period 70-71. I played baritone horn, and baritone sax. I remember our bus driver, he was an incredible bari-sax player. Of course I remember playing all those songs like , The Joker, Hurt so bad, and Dragnet. But, I really got a kick when we played Chant & Jubilo, and Masque. Does anybody know if the Peele brothers (Dexter & Emmett), are still up and taking nourishment?

It's great to see so many of you around that still remember all of the great times we had. Again I was a member of the color guard from 1964 to 1968, commanded by Dennis Zambrana, under Officer Kelly (I forget his first name) and later under Officer Paul Horde. When Dennis Zambrana left and joined the air force, eventually I became the commander of the color guard. I remember our color guard coordinator last name was Wallace. Then there was Lester Smith on trumpet. Who could forget him. Yes, let's not forget those big jail buses, picking us up for practice at the park and then dropping us off to go home. There was one time the buses could not be used because of the riots. During that time school buses were used. Someone mentioned parades. I attended LA High School and was a drummer in the band. One year there was a conflict because both the band were marching in the Watts Parade. I was threaten with receiving a failing grade if I marched with LAPD Jr Band instead of my high school band. Well, go figure...no-brainer. I marched in many parades all over California, competed in national championships in Oregon and Washington, DC. I could go on and on. Again, nice seeing so many that remember the band.
This is Don Zambrana, Dennis Zambrana's younger brother. My brother Tom and I played sax and brothers Dennis and Richard were in the color guard under director Ralph Kelly. What good times we had traveling to Portland and Wash DC for Nationals. And the fun trip to Fresno for State Championship. This band was the highlight of my teenage life. I sure remember trying to get to band practice during the 1965 Watts riots...what a trip. I still have my band jacket too although it doesn't fit my fat body anymore...LOL.

Hi fellow band members. I was in the band under Ralph Kelly from 1960-1964. Those were some of the best times of my life. I played flute and piccolo and was the drum major as well. Hung out with Stan Kelly and Cecil Hurst. Marched in the Rose Parade in ‘61 and ‘63. Went to nationals in Denver, Las Vegas, and Miami.
I couldn’t be prouder to have been a member of that great band. None of us will ever forget those days ( and late evenings).
Anyone remember flying to Florida for 12 hours in that prop plane? Landing at Ogalalla Airport instead of Miami? Looking out the barracks door at it pouring rain on the other side of the street.
Hope you guys are all well.
