If there are any more marches anyone wants added to the library let me know and I'll send them to Dave.

I added Call of the Elk by Harry Alford last night after Kevin sent it to me.

It sounds like the end credits of one of those old Newsreel shorts that used to be shown in the movie theaters of old... I wanted to reach for some popcorn and soda pop.

Good luck finding that one!

Maybe someone has on OLD Pasadena HS recording of it that could be digitized.

Have never seen that one recorded. I don't think it was on the SCSBOA list...when we did "Rarest of the Rare" in 1978 we specifically recorded all the SCSBOA that we could not find recordings of..and although we recorded William Hill's "Men of Custer" because it was on the list and not recorded (he conducted it on "R of R"), we didn't do Big Red Machine.

Actually, in 2003, Vallejo High School did "Amparito Roca" as their street piece and did pretty well with it, usually taking first or second in their division that year.

I think I have all those...I'll check. I actually have the Band of HM Royal Marines under the baton of FJ Ricketts (Alford) conducting those 2 Alford marches, but you probably want something with better sound quality than that (made off a 78 rpm frm 1939).

I'll get them to Dave ASAP. I just sent Amparito Roca & White Rose.

I got it and I added it to the Library along with Amparito Roca (Jaime Texidor), The White Rose (Sousa) and I found one called On Jersey Shore by Arthur Pryor. I also updated one recording, The Directorate, with a new recording by the President's Own. So we are now up to 332 march recordings in the Library.

Thanks. I played the White Rose about 25 years ago and remembered liking it but I couldn't remember the music.

I sent all the above requested marches to Dave except Storm King. No recording of that one. It was not on Rarest of Rare because at that time it was considered a "small HS level" march. There were 3 march lists then...large HS school, small HS school, Jr HS.

I wouldn't mind having a recording of it, but quite honestly, Storm King, Thunder Song, and Five Star General make me slightly nauseous. I would rather hear Bravura 5 days a week and twice on Sunday that any of those 3. Just personal preference.
