Solo Concert Works

Post by Jakob der ludner » Wed May 04, 2005 6:03 pm

So, what solo concert works have you guys done? Right now, we're doing blue bells of scotland for band (the arthur pryor one with the awesome bone solo) and von weber's concertino for clarinet and orchestra arranged for band by alfred reed. We're also looking into doing Mozart's clarinet concerto with our strings. This is all for our spring concert as a sort of farewell to some of our graduating seniors, having them do solos.

we haven't played any in band yet...but i've played a lot of concertos for my instrument (i'm in pit for marching season and a bassoonist for concert season) with small groups.

Rimsky-Korsakoff's Scheherazade has an AWESOME bassoon solo! yeah! not as cool as the violin, or course, but that's to be expected.
