Shostokovich's 5th Symphony Finale, hands down! We preformed that last year and LOVE it. Shostokvich is my favorite composer, Festive Overture is good too :)

I've never heard of Armenian Dances by Reed, but all the comments on it here has definately piqued my interest!

Pick up a CD of Shostakovich's 10th Symphony and get a load of the finale to that. It's even better than the Fifth. :D

"Folk Dances" by Shostkovich? It's an excellent piece. I played it in college.

I am not sure , but the recording I have is played by North Texas Wind Symphony. Is it really hard to play? What did you play it on????Have you heard of the piece called Irish Tune?

I played baritone on "Folk Dances." It's a fun, active piece. It's fairly challenging, but it's not the most difficult tune I've ever played. A lot of notes in it, especially for the woodwinds.

Irish Tune from County Derry... possibly the most overplayed Grainger piece in the world.

To MY opinion the best concert peices are Amazing Grace the Frank Ticheli arrangement and Hobbits. These songs really take your breath away! I'll listen and/or play this anyday!
