Where's Phantom? Science Olympiad.

Post by Hostrauser » Mon Feb 10, 2003 7:08 am

Well, there's more to my life than band and drum corps (as amazing as that may seem)... This weekend I was in San Diego, where I volunteered my time as an Assistant Event Captain and Judge at the San Diego Science Olympiad at San Diego State University. I worked the "Write-It, Do-It" competition with a lady-friend who has run that particular event for the past few years. If any of you were there (a competition where student group A is in a room with homemade models, writing down verbose instructions on how to create said models from scratch; their partners, student group B, were in a seperate room with a big bag of raw supplies and had to recreate the models based solely on their partner's notes), I was the guy with the green hair and the Cavaliers t-shirt, primarily supervising the writing group.

Anyways, it was a long morning but pretty fun. There were two competitions, one for H.S. and one for M.S., and here are the results (top 15 places listed, because that's how the awards were given out).

Rancho Bernardo H.S. was there, too... they just didn't place a team in the top 15.

IIRC, there were 52 or 53 H.S. teams and 41 M.S. teams.
