What's it gonna' be? "Star Wars" or "Lord of the Rings"? I know it's early for LOTR, but if the first 2 were any indication, I'm hoping the third will be a good closer! In terms of Star Wars, let's just use Episodes IV-VI.

Lotr!!
Ahhh, this is such a controversial subject. For me, Stars Wars is boring (personal opinion) and is something of the 70s. Lord of the Rings is so fabulously done, and the books are awesome. I enjoy lotr way more than star wars. Oh well, everyone has an opinion.

Re: Lotr!!
I'm right with you. I've never really liked any of the Star Wars movies. And only the first Back to the Future was any good.Adge wrote:Ahhh, this is such a controversial subject. The poll leaves out a lot of good trilogies, though:
Lethal Weapon I-III
Die Hard I-III
The Godfather I-III
etc...
All, right, yeah those are all great trilogies, however, the STAR WARS trilogy is just a classic Epic. Don't get me wrong, LOTR, great movies, even better if you've read the books like me, but STAR WARS is the original bad boy of Epic Movies. Well, that is my two cents.

I chose LOTR because I'm in love with Orlando Bloom. *swoon*

here's my vote...
I have to admit, both Star Wars & Lord of the Rings were really good movies. But LOTR rawked my world!! It's the best & I'm sure #3 will live up to my expectations. There's my opinion...

You gotta be kidding me
I must be the only Die-hard Star Wars fan aroud here. Check my avatar, any starwars fanknows what it is. ack on topic, I'll always prefer Star Wars. ou guys forgot another trilogy. The Godfather (nothing to do with me being from Westlake)
I lost my sodeeeeeee waterrrr........
The age old question...
I would definitely need to say the SW trilogy simply because Star Wars was the first movie I EVER SAW. I saw it in a drive-in theater (did I just totally age myself?). So it definitely has more personal value to me.
In terms of "quality" of material, one must take a step back and look at the issue objectively.
Lucas himself has stated on many instances that much of the material and character archetypes were derived from the LOTR books. He just dressed it up in technology and put it in outer space.
If anyone would like me to draw the connections in characters, plots, and sub-plots, I would love to discuss that as well.
