new drumline
I'm in charge of leading my school's VERY new drumline this year and we really need some help, especially since its completely student lead. But I was wondering if anybody knew of some good competitions for beginners preferably in the Southern California / San Diego area. Pretty much all I know about are wgi and scpa... Also if you know of any parades in San Diego that has bands/drumlines perform in, what are those? And finally if you know of any good clinics coming up in the southern california area it would be great to know about those too. Any other advice or info you guys have about it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

for outdoor season its good to draw your drill down set by set on drill paper (football field with grid on it). You can do the same for indoor or your acn also write drill as you go. Drill has to have good staging for musicality and viusal effects. Many drumlines and corps are always improving their show drill... even during the season.
There is nothing more scary than a kid with an internet connection.

Keep to the basics
Always keep to the basics when starting a new line, if things get too complicated your line will sound bad. Always play to your weakest player, but be challanging. Good luck!!!
