One of my favorites to play is Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Bach. I played it one for an Honor Band and it was INSANE! It was haunting, violent and energetic. It gives that kinda impression. haha..these emoticons are great. Frank Erickson ( I think that's how you spell it...)...the dude who wrote songs like Toccata for Band on Air for Band is good too, but with him, you could tell if a piece is his cause it has a certain style, which a lot of composers do, but his are really distinct. It's all good though. we're playing Air for Band in the Symphonic Band here at Cal State Fullerton. It sounds beautiful.
'NO TOUCHIE!'
A cool piece that I have now had the chance to play was concert that the Chamber Winds group I play for played with the MSAC choir was Sleep. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever been able to be a part of.
Also, O Magnum Mysterium is an awsome piece. And a Lincoln Portrait. Both of which I am playing this semester.

We're playing Blue Shades in band right now, and even though I rest for 300 something measures, I love it! We're also playing a chanukah song called Eigth Candle that really is fairly simple, but sounds sooo pretty. However probably the most fun piece I've played was last year when we played Chaos Theory - it was awesome - it's an electric guitar concerto.
Oh, and when we played Chaos Theory last year at the Pacific Basin festival, there was a group there from Alaska that played Ghost Train, and I have to agree, that song is really cool.

I'm a yellow duck.

William Bolcom
Gotta' be one of the most entertaining yet challenging pieces I've ever played, William Bolcom's Machine. One of the most aptly named pieces of music out there, very distinct as a programmatic work, but a whole lot of fun just to listen to, also.
In time you will learn to call me master.
