Moderators: Gallagher, geefunk1026
geez, this thread has become a littleHEATED if you ask me. i think we should forget about hogan since this thread is about ncba open champs, and hogan is indeed, not attending. maybe a new thread for your own pleasure if you really wanna debate over hogan and fairfield? Anyway, we'll see what happens at finals cause its gonna be GREAT to watch all of the open lines finally compete head on! Goodluck fairfield foothill and vellejo!

Frankly the Fairfield battery doesn't impress me yet. I am sure they will grow into a stronger group in the next few years as longs as their egos don't get in the way. Their center snare has great chops but could use some humilty andsome technique. One of the girls on snare has great technique and a great attitude. The rest need to mature as drummers some more. Their tenors still seem to have the bad-marching curse that Fairfield can't escape and their basses can't hold a candle to the prevoius years' bass lines. I can't wait to see them next year though.GuarDiva04 wrote:The only seniors Fairfield will be losing are in the pit... soo hmm I guess their battery will be as strong as they are now eh?I definetly agree, and it will be interesting to watch Fairfield next year when they lose their seniors.. The pit will fare okay but their strongest battery lines will be losing members.
Don't get me wrong I was in the Fairfield bassline just two years ago and wish them the best of luck. I just wish you younger guys would stop for a second and remember who built your line. A little humilty goes a long way.

I'm still Red, but blue thoughts are clouding my mind. Those who know drum corps know what I'm talking about.
Humility you say. As to those who have built up our program from the Vegas show 5 years ago, where our line wasn't even being considered Open class quality to a line who is competing nationally at WGI World Championships, I thank our incredible instructional staff. Former members had their chance to shine and then they move on. So move on. Putting down a very talented though young line doesnt get you anything. Seeing how Championships are this weekend, I hope all three schools max out their shows because this years NCBA championships will be intense. I have not seen either Vallejo nor Foothill's show because of the scheduling conflicts. Hopefully after we are done, we may get to go back in to see them.
Good Luck to all the lines.
Good Luck to all the lines.

"Scenes From A Memory"
Concerto for Percussion, mvt III (Schwantner)
Scene Six: Home (Dream Theater)
Scene Seven: Dance of Eternity (Dream Theater)
"Original" (Blair Williams)

Anyways good luck to you all competeting this weekend at NCBA champs... remember its not about taking home a trophy but playing with all your heart... in the end we're all musicans in the same family striving for a common goal...

My sincere appologies... I was misinformed... in a conversation with one of the drummers at Fairfield... he was explaining that LAST YEAR's mucis was all originally composed by Brian Aguilar and I was under the impression he was reffering to this year... gracious appologies!

Well, this is rekindling old thoughts..but electronic drumline (as was mentioned a few posts back) isn't what it's cut out to be. I think it's a mask as to what the group can do. When I see groups with 3 or 4 keyboards, a bass guitar and huge amps it just kills the drumline. I really like natural drumming. Also-look at the room for error with electronics.. there's always tech difficulties!
Well... fairfield did win... but i didnt think their performance was very good. They seemed to lack alot of energy, at least up until the end of their show. I gotta admit though.... it was a pretty good show.
