What’s worse is when the backdrop takes you down with it. My freshmen year we had these big chairs made of PVC pipe and two of them collapsed while girls were standing on them.
I hate it when guards have a lot of backdrops and you can't see the show from behind because at 90% of the shows you go to, performers sit in the back and you can't see anything.
We haven't had backdrops for the past two years and personally I like it that way, faster set up, fewer things to worry about and it makes the floor seem bigger, lol!

My class kind of broke the Trabuco trade of no props.

Last year we had 6 tables and 12 chairs... it was scary to toss on those things!! You could still see our show and stuff we just... had tables. We also had random moving the chairs around time and it was cool to incorporate our work with them. Yay for Laura!

This year is like color/prop explosion, which works for our show. We've got like 7 back drops on one side and "candy canes" to hold our flags. We used the tables again, but we cut them down to only 18 inches each... The rifles and sabres use them this year. Last year it was only flags... scared freshman was I.
Uh-oh for life!

i remember in my senior year of high school we were learning drill for winter and we just had the base of all the back drops set out. well one of my freinds was walking backwards to her spot and fell right over the back drop it was so funny i couldnt help laughing.....well what happend during the next run through i fell on my....butt.... :dunce: right over the back drop.....damn karma!! :stupid:
But i havent seen alot of back drops being used maybe because the only shows that i can watch are the world guards.

Pirates!

Post by nhsflaggie04 » Wed Mar 17, 2004 6:37 pm

I agree that the pirate's theme is kinda overdone but i can never get sick of watching a show with that theme. I loved Helix's show...they're my idols now. I liked Narbonne's pirate show...they don't have the backdrops and props, but what can you expect from a poor school. I liked Capistrano Valley's show becuase I was never able to predict what they would do, and I liked the yellow tops! I dunno i just like seeing the different pirates shows because i like seeing what the different schools do to make it their own.

ya i hate it when there is a show that you want to see, but you can't because of all the backdrops. I hate it when they use backdrops all around their floor, or all the way across the back.
