Units

Post by engineer » Tue Dec 10, 2002 12:01 pm

For all of us college students out there, how many units do you take a quarter/semester??

This quarter I took 15, winter quarter i'm taking 19, and spring quarter i'm planning 20, and in no way am I on a 4 year plan. I'm an Civil Engineer major, there is no way i'm gonna graduate in 4, that's just crazy.

Right now this fall quarter in which this is finals week I am taking 18 units. It's killer taking all these classes especially with my computer science class that SHOULD be a 6 unit class instead of 4. Next quarter I'm taking 14 units instead to relax a bit. One of those classes though is a real 6 unit class which is Introduction to Assembly code.

Classes are usually 4 units unless they take a lot of time like my programming classes. Those they bump up to 6. Then there are those fun classes that don't take much time that are 2 units each.

Hey Thi what's your major?

I usually try to take 12 units (4 classes) a semester, but it doesn't always work out that way. I've only got 8 classes left until I'm DONE!! Unfortunately due to prereqisites and schtuff, I can only take 2 classes a semester until I graduate in May 2004. *sigh* :?

Cost.... one reason why I take more credits than I should. We pay for above 12 units or below 12 units, so by taking more than 16 at least I get more school for my buck, although when you count the time I don't show up to class it will probably even out.
