Saxophonists Unite!
Mark your calendars for Dec. 21st. San Jose will be the place to be when we get as many sopranos, altos, tenors, baris, sopraninos, saxellos, basses, maybe even a contrabass to play Holiday music. Don't know what some of those saxes look like? Better come and check it out. Similar to the Tubafest (Dec. 7th for San Jose), this one is strictly for saxoholics!
Rehearsal will be from 10am-noon (I believe at Monroe Middle School).
Performances will be at Xmas in the Park at Cesar Chavez Park in downtown SJ at 2pm and 5pm at Eastridge Mall in east SJ.
You MUST be at the rehearsal in order to participate in the performances. Total beginners should not participate as this is a one-day only event.
Sooooooooo...it doesn't matter if you're from NorCal or SoCal, even if you're from out of state. If you happen to be in the Silicon Valley on that date, make sure you pack the sax and join us for some fun!
Hope to see you there!!!!!!!
Oh yeah! The public is invited so invite your family and friends. The concerts are free.

well
my first sax was an olds, now i play on a yamaha student but im desperate to get a new one, which is why i started to work at my aunts beauty store..its..interesting, the fumes are getting to me..i want to buy a selmer, either series II (price is so much better) or a series III (ya rite), how bout a reference 54? haha..how do you like the series II? ive heard good and bad things
Re: well
The series II is designed for concert playing, and you'll get a darker sound out of it. The series III has a more lively sound (I have a series III, love it). The reference 54 is supposed to be the reincarnate of the Mark VI sound wise, but thats impossible because I've heard that Mark VI's were made from bullet casings from WWII, and that was responsible for the beautiful warm tone. I've heard good things about the reference models. You really cant go wrong when you buy a selmer.Cole167888 wrote:i want to buy a selmer, either series II (price is so much better) or a series III (ya rite), how bout a reference 54? haha..how do you like the series II? ive heard good and bad things

Saxophone Christmas Photos
Wildabeast send me a couple of photos from the Dec 21st Saxophone Christmas in San Jose. I posted them to the Media Gallery under the Random category in 2002 West Coast Band Photos, check them out. There is a cool photo of the contrabass sax that someone brought to the event.
