What was YOUR first....?
I was just listening to KXPR out of Sacramento, and they played the first piece of classical music I ever liked.......The Moldau by Smetena. The reason it sticks in my mind so well is because I was in fifth grade at the time. I did not even think about joining band until seventh grade, and an appreciation of classical music was a few years after that. It was our weekly classroom music lesson, the selection was played, without explanation, and we were told to draw what we thought the piece was about (my drawing was a lake). After we finished, the teacher told us about the piece, and what it was describing. At the time, I was NOT a fan of classical music, but the Moldau appealed to me. When I bought my first classical LP, in tenth grade, it was a recording of the Moldau and some other East-European pieces (including Carnival Overture by Dvorak. )
Anyway, enough of my past. What was the first piece of (classical) music you liked (loved?)?

It's hard to say, but I fell in LOVE with three pieces at the same time.
-Piano Concerto No. 2 Andante (Rachmoninov)
-Prince Igor: Poleveztian Dances (Borodin) (Dance of the Slaive Maidensw/ intro and Dance of the Wild Men)
-Night On Bald Mountain (Mussorgsky) (Orchestra version)

The first piece I heard that I just loved the first time I heard it was Bach's Chorale, "Kom Susser Tod" I believe it's called. I don't really like Baroque music that much but that is still one of my favorite pieces.
