Concert Pieces
Im curious, have any of you started working on your concert pieces for festival? So far we've only started working on one piece called Masque but I dont know who the composer is. Its pretty fast, round 160-170 but I like it.
yeah
so far we've chosen two "fo' sho'" songs for wind ensemble. We are fo' sho' playing:
-Children's March No. 1,2,3 (Percy Grainger)
-Little Suite No. 1: Prelude, Siciliano, Rondo (Malcolm Arnold)
Children's march is "interesting" but fun, and I really like the Malcolm Arnold piece. But the second movement is the hardest because it's slow.

Re: yeah
Funny how that works, isn't it? Ever have the chance to play "Prelude, Op. 34, No. 14" by Dmitri Shostakovich (arr. Reynolds)? That piece is only some 30 measures long, lasts only about 2.5 minutes, but it's a grade V. It's a surprisingly challenging piece because of the range demands placed on several of the instruments and because there's exposure ALL OVER the place. Just about every instrument has an exposed line at some point in those short 30+ measures.Ace wrote:...and I really like the Malcolm Arnold piece.
