Dress is to the "center" right? kidding...and Vanguard's lines...were never straight either. RCC's, and a few others as I mentioned earlier...pretty sik. (that's good)

Anyhow...they were huge. hahah
Odessa/Permian (TX) composite band? The folks on the KTLA broadcast said they are the largest band ever in the Rose Parade (500+). I thought Arcadia was huge every time I saw them.

Arcadia...that's exactly whom I was comparing them to...imagine a band 200+ members larger than that of arcadia. massive.

That's right...they did make that comment. It's all coming back now..."selective memory" stinks.

I thought they were great :D

they were one of the few bands who, by the time they got to were I was sitting (about half way), still could keep their ranks looking halfway decent. I mean, believe me, I know their pain, but you at least gotta try.

vanguard

i saw vanguard on the parade. Am i correct that they had not only vanguard members, but also Vanguard Cadets and Alumni members marching in it too??? I enjoyed seeing the corps in the rose parade! I thought they sounded great (im not saying the other bands didn't, they all did great). something about those nice drum corps hornlines :) RCC was pretty cool too, i was looking forward to seeing them as well today.

i just wish that they would spend more camera time on the marching bands!!! after all thats what its all about right? j/k

all the bands sounded good, but there were only a few that sounded really balanced. a lot of bands were mainly screaming trumpets with the accompaniment of bands. just seemed like the football field came to the street to me...

I was at Catalina and Colorado. The bands were pretty ragged by then. I saw last hour of parade and LA City Honor, Temple City USC and Michigan were the only bands with energy that i saw. USC and Michigan really know how to entertain a crowd!!

Is it just me or was it really frustrating that Vanguard coverage was cut right in the middle of the Festive Overture fanfare?

LA Honor Band was soooooo awesome; easily one of my favorites in the parade. They had massive amounts of energy and projected it everywhere! Other favorites were RCC, Michigan, Temple City, and PCC Honor Band. USC was cool too, but I dislike their marching.

The reason they could form such a big combined Band from the two schools is that Permian has an enrollment of 3,583 and Odessa High Has over 4,000 in four grades. The rivalry between these schools is legendary. I am surprised that some one was not assaulted trying to get these two Bands together. It iprobably was easier to raise money for the trip since both schools were going
