All-State Band

Post by MusicMan » Tue Dec 02, 2003 4:37 pm

Hey, I got a couple of questions. Does anyone know when the CBDA All-State band members are supposed to be announced? Up here in Northern California I don't ever hear a lot of talk about the All-State band, is it a really big thing down there is SoCal? Just curious. I'm really excited for the band coming up, I hope I make it in! Anyone else as excited as I am?

all southern (socal only version of all state) and all state are pretty big down here... at least where I am from.
I've heard a lot of really awesome players are from fresno.
I know two ppl who were in all state, and a whole lot of ppl in all southern.
No regrets

No, I'm pretty sure you just do a chair placement audition once you get there. That's how they do it at All-Northern, so I'm assuming the same goes for state.

The first audition by tape is the chance to be accepted. If accepted, you audition again for placement.

I can now answer my own question. I e-mailed the CBDA President,(He was our director last year at our county honor band, Meryl Wahmoff, kind of odd because I didn't know he was the current president) and he told me they were going to be listening to the tapes January 1-4. How dumb. They had our tapes on th first od Decbember, why must they put us through agony for over a month!!! On the bright side, you All-Northerners can expect results next Wednesday, or around there. They are listening to our tapes this weekend!
