wow! people actually know stuff about garden grove? i feel left out now...
anywho, in response to our [just because i graduated doesn't mean i left] line expanding so much for indoor season... that's a toughie. concert band doesn't compete at all, so that leaves them with nothing much to do. and our line has a ton of fun in and out of playing, so the band kids want to be a part of it. some of our best percussionists [ie- crystal, katie, ooo-yen, etc] play brass/woodwinds for field season because we're always lacking there. so our director makes them stay away from percussion until indoor season. heck, he pulled me from orchestra! and i'm hecka glad he did. i took more orchestra kiddies with me and they're still loving drumline. =)
leesa, if you guys need a pit helper-outter, you know where to find me. =) well, not really. but ask around. i'm there somewhere. dood... nevermind. unless someone can drive me. =)

I totally agree weezer! Obviously, ignorance still exists in modern battery percussionists.
Without a pit you have no notes! Literally! No notation pitch at all! You would probably lose most of the musical aspect of a drumline.
Either no one has read that post but weezer and I or no one cares (which is sad) but, I can be sure you are going to anger many, many percussionists out there if you keep that attitude towards your peers.

Pit
A drumline is just a rhythm section with out the pit. with out the pit there is no meleodic experience. That includes fun stuff like timpani and other such tuneful percussion. Sure, you can be a drumline with out pit, but you can not be a percussion ensemble with out them. Any one can be a drummer, it takes something to be a percussionist. Think about it.
