Which part of it?

First and second place were very close but I think both Valencia and Carlsbad have done a good job and I was pretty sure they would end up fairly high up.

He is talking about WBA championships in Fresno, not SCSBOA in sandiego. Though I must say 4a in scsboa was fun, gj Carlsbad, it was fun compeiting with you.

Both Carlsbad and Valencia had great shows. Even though Valencia came on top at the end, Carlsbad still deserves credit for what they did. Carlsbad was coming in to finals in first place. At the same time they were going in to finals without ever seeing the defending champions from last year. Both schools avoided competiting against each other until finals because it would be a good fight, and well it was. You guys were awesome, Carlsbad. GREAT JOB!!! It was too close to call. Everyone knew it was between you guys and us. There were no losers at this competition.

Shocked

Shocked doesn't begin to say how I feel. I am planning on doing a little research before I state my case but I think the wide disparity is judging needs comment. More to come...........

Why can't anyone ever say, "Wow what a great job all the bands did and I guess we weren't the best." I love how after every event people are "shocked" by the results. The judges have soooo much more experiance than any student or parent in the stands. Just cause your band didn't win doesn't mean the judges suck.

That’s true and that’s why everyone has been careful with what they are saying. Think of it in these terms whenever an event is judged, Refereed, umpired the one thing that will cast doubt on them is inconsistency. There have been other threads on the board in regards to judging so don’t get all butt hurt when a valid discussion is in hand.

The scores are the scores and guess what? they are not going to change.
It’s just some would like a better understanding of what went on Saturday.

When all is said and done

Congrats to MV they are the WBA champions for 2003 and no one here wants or will take that from them.
:D :D :D

All I have to say is that Thousand Oaks beat Mission Viejo twice before WBA championships.

not that i feel like taking part in this ridiculous topic, but thousand oaks beat mission last on october 18 at costa mesa competition. that was a long long time ago from championships. if they beat mission recently before november 22, maybe your claim would be slightly more justified. but thousand oaks was missing from action in the wba competitions before championships. your claim has no realistic strength. in that month that thousand oaks had not competed against them, do you really think that mission viejo wasnt going to improve? the placement of thousand oaks was pretty much up to the judges because no one really knew how well their show was improving in wba since they there was a month hiatus from the wba competitions until championships

Not that I feel like taking part in this ridiculous topic, either, but to add to Tyler's point: Mission Viejo did not finish their show until after the WBA Costa Mesa comp. (Not to mention the most of the season the judges have pretty much unanimously agreed that Mission Viejo was better, right?)

All I have to say is that I am suprised you are all still talking about it. Whats done is done. Move on...

I personally want to give my props out to everyone who was even at championships. To go out there and do what we do is an accomplishment in itself. We shouldn't waste our time arguing over who recieved what score. And just be proud that we all have the opportunity to be a part of something like this.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hey all well I'm more of an SCSBOA fan my slef but I like the WBA way of marching and puting a cool show togeather a lot like drum corp. Well so back to the point of all of this. I was going to post this on the " WBA all upside down" but it was locked...(wonder why :? ) Well so ya I like the school Yala ( Is that how you spell it sorry if its wrong) Well anyways I saw them at kenedy's show and then agin at the Mission show At least I think it was the Mission show. Well I think they were prety good. How come did they only come out 3rd, was their show a bad show up north or did they not have a good show. Well if anyone has any answers to this please post them thank you...

I was shocked because most people thought that my band was going to get in to the top 5 but some how we got 9th and the score was pretty low. I just found that a little odd.
