i was suprised by some of the scores, specifically percussion. i saw some good lines that didn't score as well, in my opinion. but i guess thats just one judges opinion. i also like the Highland band from AZ, pretty impressive!

I agree; Highland was awesome!

(Were you there in the stands when Sierra Vista and Troy cheered at each other? I was the one who asked "How do you feel?".)

I was in the stands when the last 3 bands performed. Good job, everyone! It was cool that the tournament went on even though it started pouring like crazy.

Rowland was really good, their percussion was WOW :D I like Rowland's uniforms too 8-) Vista and Highland were great. Vista had cool visuals, and I don't think I saw any flutes in Highland, just piccolos.. that's pretty wild!

clarification

Post by SinfonianBrass » Sun Nov 16, 2003 6:44 pm

For some clarification...

This year's SCSBOA Field Championships will be scored slightly different from last year's.

There will be no 90% band raw score + 5% colorguard score + 5% percussion score.

Scores to determine the champion of each division will be "traditional" SCSBOA field judging.

Music score out of 450 + GE score out of 350 + Visual score out of 200 = a total possible of 1000 points... divided by 10 equals a raw score of a possible 100.

This is different from last years.
Let there be nothing but the truth in music.

Okay so they're not weighting the scores and adding them together? and they're not giving placings for band, guard, and percussion? now I'm confused?

Rowland played music by Bernard Hermann, I don't know how blue devil sounding it was because I didn't see it.

Rowland's cool show, evening scores

Post by ODannyBoi » Sun Nov 16, 2003 9:45 pm

I don't remember a BD show of Bernard Herrman music (year, please?) but I do remember a Phantom show from like '94 that used what sounded like the exact same "North By Northwest" theme to close.

SBG, I'll try to post the Savanna evening scores tomorrow if I can get my grades posted on time.

BD show...

Blue Devils - 2000 show music of Bernard Herman
Night Piece for Saxophone Orchestra
On Dangerous Grounds: Prelude
Psycho: Prelude
Vertigo: Scene d'Amour
North by Northwest: The Wild Ride

Also... Cavies did "Niagra Falls" that year, and Cadets did "Walt Disney World's Millenium Celebration"
