coming soon: Moorpark Review

Post by formermarcher » Sat Nov 15, 2003 11:28 pm

Sometime early next week I'll have reviews of 18 bands that went to the Moorpark field show. Those bands include:

Bakersfield
Pacifica
Long Beach Poly
Cresecent Valley
San Marino
Mira Costa
Santa Barbara
Littlrock
Mater Dei
Cabrillio
Royal
Canyon
Westview
Whittier
Westlake
Monache
Thousand Oaks
Granda Hills

Since there are 18 bands, I'll classify each thread as 3A-1, 3A-2, and 6A
(no 5A cause I had already written 15 reviews and needed a break).

Also, only the 1st 8 bands are marching...due to the rain the larger portion of bands performed insides the Moorpark Gymnasium.

What about the 2a? I'd be interested in hearing what you had to say about some of those bands!

Thanks

I didn't manage to get there until about 3pm...which was after the 2A bands. Sorry.
If I can remember clearly enough, I could do one for Arlington, who won the morning show.

I just wanted to say its awesome that you are writting reviews. It sucked having to move everything into our gym. Its so tiny. And then the awards part was so bad! None of the escorts really knew what the were doing! I know i didnt! Id never done that b4. I just hope the other schools enjoyed themselves. I was kinda upset that we didnt do an exhibition at the end of the night like usual. But its ok, bc Granada would have made us look bad. heehee.

For the scenario you guys were thrown into...you guys did a fantastic job! And all the people who worked the various stansd were all so nice!
I've always enjoyed going to Moorpark's tournments (as a marcher too).

:D well, golly gee, thanks for reviewing our band! The Moorpark competition was a crazy one, but we ended up getting sweepstakes (drumline) which made me and my co captain happy as hell, the color guard has been working their heads off and they finally got a decent score, I am sure they will all be estatic once they read that some thought they "were on fire". The funny thing is that I totally agree with what you said and it is true and I have told my instructors that several times, but ya know whatever, the awards speak for themselves, thanks a lot

Ok...part 2 of 3 of my ever so long review.

viewtopic.php?t=2449

Happy reading! Feel free to comment on my reviews...let me know if you think I could have done a better job, and in what aspects you'd like me to improve on. I probably won't do another comp this year...but hey. You never know!

Hey Rockin'

I want to say how proud I was of you, the line and your band. I haven't seen you guys in a long, long time. I'm now the band director of Monrovia High School, but once upon a time I was a tenor player in the band and much later a drum and marching instructor there. I made my whole band watch you guys!

I agree with the review, Great marching, nice visuals, awsome music, smokin drum line & guard! The band as a whole was extreamly solid and warm up in the warm-up area but it did not translate down on the feild as well..next time, but you guys were locked in! again great job.

By the way....Who is your drum coach? How do you like the new band director?
Are you guys doing winter circuit? which one?

Instrumental Music Director, Monrovia High School
