To come down to their turf (more or less) and take them on in SCSBOA is quite bold.
Me: That's not actually what they're doing. Reasons.

I'm sure there are lots of people at Ayala who respect their competition no matter what circuit
Me: That's not what I said at all. Clarification of reasons.

Um... What? Why are you emphasizing the word "YOU" here? I haven't accused anyone of taking anything out of context.
wjs05 wrote:The entire point to the Ayala vs Mt.carmel "thing" is that as marching band fans, its exciting to see two powerhouses compete for the thrill of it. It's a win-win for everyone.
Sure, why not. I get it.

Hahahahaha! I have to admit. I laughed out loud at that one. PSM, whoever you are, thanks for clarifying. The show will be a great display of talent, for sure. Didn't mean to talk it up TOO much. I can get into Master of Ceremonies mode rather quick.

I know, right? It can be pretty easy to get caught up in the competitiveness of it all. Then again, if I thought the judging at these events was reliable - and it's not at all reliable, in fact it's almost always terrible - I might take results more seriously.

I just want to make sure my kids have interesting shows to work on and are prepared to have killer performances.

Ayala is definitely the band to beat in CA
I'm sure there are lots of people at Ayala who respect their competition no matter what circuit
I want to clarify that although I don't know who uci_guy is or originally said it, this is not a quote from a person currently affiliated with my program and absolutely does not reflect what we are about. Everyone in the program respects our competition or they are no longer part of it. We are all looking forward to a great day of positive competition and sportsmanship and great commentary from the panel.

Hello, Mr. Stone. First off, great show! Your kids, parents, staff work very hard, and never have they been disrespectful (that I know).

As for uci_guy, I think he (I assume "he") changed his original post to imply more sarcasm with the "Ayala doesn't need to waste it's time with scsboa bands, we're national contenders" post, as a direct response to PSM. It doesn't look like it phrased the way it is now, but before you definitely knew uci_guy was not affiliated with Ayala. And I don't think it was a direct shot at your program, really--mainly a remark about how PSM came across, which has been cleared up (I hope!). Anyways, no "Rumble in San Diego" (ha ha!). Just great, classy competing, as always.

No worries...I just wanted to clarify as I know how these things blow up sometimes.

Interesting. I don't remember the last time a powerhouse band took a fairly long trip to perform in a different circuit. It does remind me of when Etiwanda used to attend Arcadia, but that was a SCSBOA band going to a SCSBOA event.

I can't remember what year, and what circuit, but I remember Mission Viejo went down to San Diego and ended up competing with Rancho Bernardo. Also, Arcadia has competed in WBA (against James Logan) up in Union City a few times. It's rare, but it happens.

Thanks. But didn't RB host a WBA show one year? I think MV may have participated, but RB didn't compete.

Yes, RB's home show was part of the WBA circuit for the first two years (2009 & 2010) and Mission Viejo was at both. But since it was WBA, Mission Viejo wasn't traveling to go out of circuit.

RB's show was then independently judged for several years, and changed again this year to be (and going forward, I assume will be) SCSBOA-judged.

Ah, yes. This year has some notable absences of regulars in years past
(RB, El Dorado, Vista, San Marcos) that are... quite unfortunate, to say the least
