I was at the Mt. Carmel band review, and what I heard (ontop of the videos provided) as well as the SCSBOA recap lead me to believe that the music scores were grossly inflated across the entire band review. I am very pleased that Mt. Carmel is revisiting "The Beau Ideal" 30 years and two directors later, as well as Arcadia playing "Bullets and Bayonets" on the same street 22 years later. TOTALLY different band I'd say. But, my opinion is that the scores are out of proportion (in the music and showmanship captions) as a whole. Some bands certainly did deserve their scores, for example Arlington did VERY well and probably would rank higher with a more accurate music score, but ALL the music scores were a bit high compared to the quality of the bands AND considering the results that we've been seeing up in the LA area. I guess we'd have to see them all with the same panel to know for sure, and we'll be waiting until the Arcadia Band Review for that :(

I just watched Arlington's youtube video from the Mt. Carmel parade. This was an outstanding performance from a mid sized band. I saw them on the field earlier this year and I was working with an SCSBOA music perf. sheet while listening. I had them one box higher than the working panel did.

Arlington you are doing a lot of things well. Not many bands your size perform in street and field as well as you do. Keep it up!
