Los Alamitos - Scary good
Nogales - Brilliant
Colony - If they get more kids, be afraid--be very afraid. (Also, genius director from Ayala.)
Sky View (UT) - Reaching for the top

Inderkum is primarily a parade band. Are they going to start going more of the field route?

Inderkum is the 2nd high school in Natomas. They are the Tigers and the school is named for the man who donated the land.

The land Inderkum H.S. was built on used to be the site of the Inderkum Dairy Farm, a family owned dairy in Sacramento for almost a century. The Inderkum family (the surname is Dutch) also donated the land for Mercy General Hospital in downtown Sacramento. They were one of the pioneering families of early Sacramento in the late 1800s-early 1900s.

Okay, that's interesting. I appreciate history lessons on locale and the like.

So is this Inderkum (Natomas) High School stuff a joke? If it was, it wasn't very nice. (Sarcasm?) I looked at the scores page and I just saw decent results, but nothing that stood out. I looked at some videos from 2013 and 2014, and I didn't see much of a difference. Am I missing something?

If there are some bands TRULY on the rise, then share it, but please...don't waste our time. If you want to joke about a program, or brag when you have nothing to back it up, there is the Off-Topic discussions group.

So tell me why Inderkum High School is on the rise? Are they going to Macy's next year? Is the band going to BOA National Concert Band Festival or something? Tell me. Ready. Set. Go.

On the rise doesn't mean that they have arrived yet. The school is new and only in their 4th year of competition. Their feeder schools do not march. I think, after just 4 years, that a band that is consistently placing in the top 4 or 5 bands at a competition could be said to be "on the rise". The title of this area is "Bands on the Rise"...not "Bands who arrived and are kicking everyone's ass".

No....it's not a joke. I should know....I advise there.

Inderkum is a parade band on the rise in Northern California. Look at their final performance each year...

2011 - Fairfield, CA - 7th of 7 in Class AA, 15th of 26 overall.
2012 - Fairfield, CA - 6th of 6 in Class AA, 17th of 27 overall.
2013 - Lincoln-Stockton, CA - 2nd of 5 in Class 5A, 2nd of 22 overall.
2014 - Lincoln-Stockton, CA - 3rd of 6 in Class 5A, 4th of 29 overall.

Hmmm. I stand corrected. Thanks, Kevin. (Particularly when looking at 2011/2012 performances and 2013/2014 performances.) Think they can bust to the top of 5A, or is it good ol' boys "locked"?

There are some good ol' boy problems in the NCBA, but it's gotten better. And as we've seen with Irvington topping Golden Valley at Lincoln this year, there's always room for new blood at the top.

Saddleback from Santa Anna were noticeably better than all of the other bands at 1A championship. They were certainly better than they have been in the recent past. If they add a few students they will be in 2A next year.
Maybe they are "on the rise"...
