SCSBOA 6A Champs

Post by Pterodactyl102 » Tue Nov 25, 2014 6:29 pm

Hey guys! I went to the championships performance but missed some of the bands and had to sit in the back stands. I was really impressed with the performances the students put out that night and was equally surprised with the placement of the bands. What are your thoughts on how the night went and were you surprised by any of the results or shows themselves?

Not too surprised about the end results with Arcadia winning and all.... I will say two things: 1) I loved Arcadia's show; they are really stepping it up on the field as of recently given their immense size...and 2) I'm glad to see RB's overall points total back to the low 90.0 range (their score at Arcadia FT was a joke given how they did the previous field tournaments); howeverrrrrrr, they did execute their field show well just like any year...I just still do not understand/like what their theme was, even now with the field season done. But hey, we are all entitled to our own opinions!

What about Roland and San Marcos? Judging from the way they've been playing throughout the season, I expected Roland to get a higher placement. And San Marcos was WOW (even from the back stands!). They're a group that's gaining speed and popularity tremendously fast and personally I preferred them to Arcadia. Shows like theirs are always a pleasant surprise!

I'm not a huge fan anymore of the "technological" shows San Marcos has put on the past 2 or 3 years or so. I liked them at first just because it was a fresh, new perspective for field shows in SoCal....but some of the elements of their shows just get kinda old for me.
