Saddleback is currently ranked 9th in 1A... but by my personal seat-of-the-pants guess-timation they are actually performing closer to 4th-5th. their first score was a bit low pulling down their overall... so I expect after John North tourny on Thursday they'll have a more accurate representation.

Chaminade prep, Charter Oak, Don Lugo, and Santa Margarita all have yet to post a 3rd qualifying score and are just close enough that a really good performance could put some pressure on them... it is going to be fun, this next week or so. :)

(Chaminade and Charter Oak were at South Hills yesterday so scores should show anytime now, and Don Lugo is performing today...)

In 1A usually a band is pretty safe once they hit a 190 between 3 scores....sometimes the bottom cutoff is around 185 or so, but there are a lot of pretty close scores in the bottom half of the top 12 and right below, as well as a few groups who either still don't have that 3rd score, or whose 3rd score is much lower than their top 2 so if they drop that one at a comp this week, they'll probably jump up quite a few spots.

I'm not sure what will happen in 2A though I am guessing Moorpark will be in one of the medal slots, their show is pretty awesome and they play very, very well. Haven't really seen any of the other top bands in 2A. Always have to watch out for San Marcos as they always seem to be in the top 3 regardless of what division they are in.

From what I have seen this year I think the most interesting division to watch is going to be 3A. There are some awesome shows in there this year and I will be very interested to see how the numbers all play out....probably be a couple of placings that are very close to each other throughout, and many of the shows are very entertaining, wish I could see 3A champs this year.

Magicsax22, I agree 3A is going to be interesting. I am actually going to be a fan this year and get out of the director's lounge at the Ramona show and go watch 3A this year. Aliso Niguel, Azusa, Colony and a few other top contenders are going to be there. Should make for a great show.

Congratulations to all bands that made championships. Good skill and I hope the weather fairs nicely for all competitors. :)

I think I will be attending the 3A/6A Competition to watch the 3As go at it, The amount of competition there is very exciting. Anyone can take it really.

As for 6A, I wonder who will be medaling now with Mt.Carmel gone..

Something about the trimester ending and students no longer being in the class that they practice marching band in.

Really a shame that they're not going. I checked out a video of one of their performances this year and was very impressed...and all without those props (unless they added them to a later show) that I find often distracting.
