Section leaders and Drum majors
please understand that sometimes it is best to the bas guy.
Especially during band camp. There is much to be done and very little time to do it.
The best way to ensure a successful band camp is to be the bad guys.
Time is precious and you dont have time to waste on the kid who showed up to get out of PE. Band camp must be treated as a crucible, use band camp to get rid of the weak minded, "I dont want to be here I only joined for my friends" students. Be tough, harsh and if absolutely nessacary be the bad guy. If your two weeks into band camp and some one is still messing around. Why warn them? You've probably already told them to stop. Lucky for you, the track around the field is always looking for company.
It's time to stop being the good guy and realize the band will get no where with the weak. Band camp will either make the stronger or band camp will eliminate them and make one less kid for the director to worry about.
Second
the most Important is to realize that band time and down timel are different. Once a long hot, tiring rehersal has come to and the last thing anyone wants to talk about is more band!
If we just marched a 4 mile parade, or returned home from a long trip from a field show comp. The last thing we want to worry about is more band. Home is the one place where we can go to escape band. We dont want more of it after we've had enough. Band time is for bamd and down time is to do what ever you want. Never mix both ever.
If thes are mixed into your band things could run even smoother then they alreadyare.
This advice was made from observing my own band crumb and fall apart because we were to soft on the freshman and mixed band time with down time.

I must assume this has been written by a student.
First, bad grammar and spelling. Second, in my opinion, it's bad advise.
Students should not be the bad guy. Students should support each other!
But hey, that's just my opinion.
