So, based on the schedule, both American Fork and Ayala were in the Top 22 overall highest scoring bands from either prelims.

The schedule is set up as follows, per BOA procedure:
#1-6 (Bourbon County through Dublin Coffman): additions to meet class requirements. These bands finished 31st or higher overall (both prelims combined); however, BOA specifies that the Top 2 bands from each class from each day must be accounted for in Semifinals. Bellbrook, Alter, Beechwood, and Adair are all Class A bands (two from Thursday, two from Friday). Bourbon County is Class AA, Dublin Coffman is Class AAA.

#7-10 (Boiling Springs through Lockport): 1st part of "Last 8 in", bands who placed 23rd-30th overall in Prelims (both days combined).

#11-32 (American Fork through Blue Springs): Top 22 scores from Prelims (both days combined). NOT necessarily the Top 11 from each day: that is used for the Semis selection process, but then bands are just ranked by net score, regardless of Class or day.

#33-36 (Lake Park through Castle): 2nd part of "Last 8 in", bands who placed 23rd-30th overall in Prelims (both days combined).

All twelve of your finalists are almost guaranteed to come from that middle Top 22 block. GO AYALA!!

Not many surprises in this group. Ayala drew Marcus in front of them and Plymouth Canton in Back. The Texas delegation are hoping to qualify all five Bands for the finals. We will see tomorrow.

Oh Kevin, I guarantee you Marian Catholic is a lock for finals. Half the band could be missing their instruments, and they would still make finals. This is the BOA flagship band that BOA puts on the cover of their program books when they run out of ideas. As long as Greg Bimm is director, the boat will not be rocked. I don't write this to downplay their program, either. Marian Catholic is very, very good, even in their "off" years. They're the type of band that starts off their season uneventfully and ends their season with a roar. This year particularly, I've read, is a good year for them.

So...re-looking at this list, four bands fighting for one spot? I think it will be close between Centerville and Ayala. (I'm hoping Ayala, of course.) Harrison's a great band, too. Lots of great bands. It'll be interesting to see what happens!

Having 5 Bands from one state apparently has not happened for 15 years. Having two Bands from the same school district(Round Rock and Cedar Ridge are both RRISD Schools) has not happened to TX Bands for some years. Cedar Ridge is only 5 years old so they have done very well. I think the Woodlands should probably be the favorite.
I think that it is great that Ayala made the finals. Will know in about 5 hours.
