Disneyland Tencennial
Here's a clip from the Disneyland Tencennial celebration. It originally aired on January 3, 1965. Starting at 6:55 (where the link should start) you get a good look at the Anaheim HS Band, followed by Western HS.

Fore those of you who want to see what Vore looked like in High School, look at the Drum Major From Anaheim High School. Interestingly the Drum Major from Western High Janice Beckman played in the same College Band that Vore and I did the next fall. Don Wilcox directed Anaheim during that year. I have to say they looked better 47 years ago than most Bands in CA look now. Not always are things better today.

Wow... was I ever that young and thin?
The baton was a Ken Krome military signal baton with a wood shaft.
So, so many years ago...

Re: Disneyland Tencennial
If it makes you feel any better Vore, I was at that time marching at the University of Washington in Seattle. I was still in High School (Sr year) and I still haven't grown up enough to retire.
Re: Disneyland Tencennial
1965 was a much easier and slower time in Anaheim and Orange County.
The population of Anaheim was 125,000 compared to today's population of 350,000.
Anaheim and much of Orange County still had many acres of orange and avocado groves, and traffic was a mere fraction of what it is today.
The cost of a new home averaged $21,000.
Gas was $ .31 a gallon and first class postage was $ .05.
1965 saw the combined bands of Anaheim HS and Loara HS perform at the ground breaking ceremony for the Anaheim Convention Center which opened in 1967.
