What a lineup!

Post by jacjar1 » Wed Nov 05, 2003 6:45 am

Congrats to Trabuco this looks to be one of the best shows of the year in both 3A and 4A with regards to lineup.
:D

Get there early parking is always a premium and with all these good bands and their fans it gonna be crowded.
Truth is not a theory..

Trabuco Hill Line-up

Post by SoCalBandFan » Wed Nov 05, 2003 6:55 am

Wow! This is an incredible Line-up. Adding Etiwanda to the 4A Comp has made this THE WBA show of the year in Southern California if it wasn't already. Also I see Silverado and Clovis East have been added to the 3A Comp. Great to see a Northern Cali Band make the trip down here. It's going to be a real dog fight in both of these divisions. Any predictions? Anyone?

That's the ONLY prediction that I can be sure of....That, and the fact that the Hospitality tent for the Directors and Staff is going to be delicious!!!!

I'm in complete agreement with that. This has got to be one of if not the largest field of bands to compete in any WBA show excluding championships. If I remember last year you guys didn't split A/AA and AAA/AAAA awards. I'm sure that will free up quite a bit of seating for the evening show.

By the way, I can promise Valley View will be prepared for the traffic jam on the 91 this year and will arrive with plenty of time to spare!

Besides WBA Championships, this IS the largest WBA show of the year. Trabuco Hills is proud and excited to host such a great tournament with so many spectacular schools! This will be the largest number of schools (33) in the tournament's history.

You are correct. The awards were NOT split last year. However, after much consideration, taking many things and comments into account, we have decided to split the awards again this year.

Let's hope that no school, especially Valley View :P, gets suck in any traffic jams.

Sit back and enjoy ready for the ride!!!

Schools in the Inland Empire, like Valley View, may want to consider taking the 241 Toll Road. Exit at Portola in Mission Viejo (the second Portola, there is a Portola off-ramp in Irvine too), turn right and THHS is only about a block down the street. Might be worth the $.
What are those football players doing on the band field?

We've taken the toll road for the past 3-4 years and it does save quite a bit of time. Where we ran into traffic was from the moment we got on the 60 freeway to the 91 until we got to the 241. It was gridlock like I've never seen before and I drive that route every Mon-Fri from Moreno Valley to Yorba Linda.

Sanger, too, is from the Central California valley region.

As for predictions? I'll just say this: do not be surprise if Clovis East makes some noise in AAA. They're a new school, only 2-3 years old, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Top 3-5 in AAA.

I'm personally rootin on Etiwanda. Who says an SCSBOA band can't compete with the WBA heavyweights? Good luck to everyone on Saturday.

Clovis East

Post by SoCalBandFan » Wed Nov 05, 2003 4:08 pm

I've been noticing the scores up there and Clovis East seems much improved over last year. It was 2 years ago that Valley View needed a place to stay for Championships and Clovis East was there to offer us their gym. Good luck to them and thanks again for the accommodations.

The question is who said that? I've seen no one this season, on this board anyway, say anything about SCSBOA bands not being able to compete with the WBA heavyweights. I'll give you my prediction for 4A for what it's worth.

1) Upland
2) Ayala
3) Etiwanda
4) Mission Viejo
5) Fountain Valley
6) Poway

I didn't mean to insinuate anything, my apologies. Anyway, lemme re-phrase that: I'm personally rootin on Etiwanda and good luck to everyone Saturday. Here's my prediction for 4A for what it's worth:

1) Etiwanda
2) Ayala
3) Upland
4) Mission Viejo
5) Fountain Valley
6) Poway

I agree with your predictions. Upland will do well but Etiwanda scored almost 6 & 1/2 points avove Upland last weekend in Phoenix. Upland and Ayala were beaten before by Etiwanda and considerably. If you haven't seen Etiwanda's completed and polished show you will be wowed as alot of people were in Phoenix.

Different Circuits. Phoenix was BOA and when Ayala and Upland competed against Etiwanda it was at Kennedy which was an SCSBOA show. I may be way off but I'll stick by my predictions and we'll see in a week or so.
