Colony Tournament

Post by 6yr.bandvet » Thu Nov 03, 2011 9:13 pm

If you haven't heard there were no stadium lights and the Colony Tournament. They had to cancel the second half of the tournament after much delay. I was really looking forward to see Etiwanda, Montclair, Nogales and RCC perform. I hope they can reschedule this event in the near future.
Also, I thought it was pretty low that people were wanting their money back. ITS A FUNDRAISER. Obviously out of their control. Come on people.
Still, I cannot overlook the very loyal crowd that waited until the sincere apologies were given. Good for them.

Not sure. I don't think anything was announced as far as scores or placements for those earlier groups, if it was, I missed it.

The scores of the bands that performed and were judged will count on the "grid." Efforts are underway to get the bands unable to perform entered into another competition if needed to qualify for Championships.

It was an unfortunate situation. I also hope that a resolution arrives where the bands unable to perform will not entirely miss out on an opportunity to post a score.

Was any reason given why the lights were not turned on?

I can't imagine the scores being very high. It was not the best conditions for the band that did compete especially towards the end. It was a dull view.

The lights were not turned on because of a MAJOR power outage in the area that caused damage to the circuits.

I agree with Mark! The power source to the box for the stadium lights had gone out during the day sometime. They worked in the morning for zero period rehearsal. An extreme bummer. Would have been a great show!

About the spectators lined up to get their money back, personally I thought it was kinda rude, but I do understand why they wanted their money back. Just a total unfortunate event that nobody had control over. :/

Hopefully the bands that were supposed to perform come back for next years show with the addition of others. :)
