For those "Southerners" who don't know, Reedley High School has the 2nd-largest marching band in California after Arcadia. Reedley's marching in the 325-350 range this year. They even march violins in their block. Needless to say, they're more of a show band style than a military parade band.

Monache H.S. from Porterville is also always a big band, usually 200-250.

Not too many years ago both bands were in the 400 student range. Both very different, both very fine. 8-)

Yep, I was able to see them (and record them) at Santa Cruz a couple years ago. They were the most entertaining band to watch out of the entire review. And you can see the green violins here also. This would be a great Rose Parade band...they know how to entertain their audience.

I really like what they are trying to do and it is VERY audience friendly. I just wish they would work a little bit more on intonation and marching technique. Cleaner would be even more intertaining...

They were in the Rose Parade a few years ago... in 2000 I believe.

They are a big band, and they have a lot of community support behind them.

They don't have the greatest marching technique nor music sound, but they're goal is to entertain the audience. The directors and their students always say they like to win, but that they just want to be the most entertaining band they can be. (As a matter of fact, they won field sweeps, high visual, and high music at Selma.)

They're the sister HS in my district. And I must say, it's quite fun to watch them wrap down the block as they line up to enter the stadium for field competition.
