Merced H.S., Golden Valley H.S., and Armijo H.S. going head to head! Should be interesting! :)
Seems like the band review is steadily growing smaller! :(
Good luck to all the band directors and their bands!

In many cases these groups are the ones that start school the earliest, that helps for early band reviews.

You might see many reviews, etc. getting smaller due to budget cuts, that remains to be seen. On the other hand, it seems like bands in Nor Cal on the average have grown a bit in size the past few years. I guess that is a good thing but in these times it stretches the budget even thinner.

In the instance of my district, school is being started almost 18 days later than it was 6 years ago due to "coordinating" our buses with the elementary districts to save money. The band has grown a bit, but not as much as it should have..we had 103 on the role last June. Between then and September 18 kids moved away (mostly to other states) or transferred to county home school.

School size, which was once 2500 to 2700 students is down to just a bit over 2000 now...

Lots of changes in California affecting bands....

Classifications based on band size, I'm assuming? Because Deer Valley is massive (by NorCal standards) and Riordan is a smaller private school, so I'm thinking it can't be by enrollment.

Is this really on the 17th? Isn't it usually on the fourth weekend of September which would be the 24th?

This may sound like a dumb question, but is this event titled the Delta Band Review or the Antioch Band Review????? The NCBA website calls it the Delta Band Review but people on WoP over the last couple years have called it the Antioch Band Review. When I post events to the calendar I want to get them right! :?

I think the official name is Delta BR, but because the town it is in is Antioch and it is hosted by Antioch HS folks switch the name.

Yes, the "official" name now is Delta Band Review - Preview of Champions; it stopped being the "Antioch Band Review" after Deer Valley opened and (for a few years) the two schools co-hosted. When it switched back to Antioch HS being the sole host, they kept the Delta BR name.

As I understand it, Golden Valley is marching 154 musicians and 40 guard for a total of 194 students which I believe is their largest marching band in the history of the school! :)

Actually.....................no. The best Middle School program in Merced sends most of their kids to the Merced Marching 100. This is a testament to the ability of Mr. Christiansen to teach and get the most out of his students.
