Rules of the game?
I'm a first year teacher who does not have a strong background in competitive marching band. Is there somewhere I can go online to look up the different rules about timing, inspection, etc for the events (parade and field) that go on at a marching band competition? I am in the San Diego area. Thanks for the help!

First, i would download the adjudication manuals from the association you intend to participate with. You can find them here:
WBA: http://www.westernbands.org/resources_forms.php
SCSBOA: http://www.scsboa.org/docs/docsnew.htm
MBOS: http://mbos.wgasc.org/forms.asp
SCJA: http://www.scjajudging.org/downloads/index.php
Next, I would start going to rehearsals and watching what is being done. I would preface this with a phone call to the director so he/she knows you are coming and ask them if they would be willing to talk to you...most will.
Then, go to shows! Figure out what you like and what style of program you want. You can also watch videos of successful groups. YouTube is an amazing resource.
If I can be of any more assistance, please feel free to call, email or PM me.
