RCC Marching Tigers at Big Orange Classic

Post by ajacobs » Sun Nov 02, 2003 5:28 pm

I was there to photograph the high school bands. The competition was great and the circumstances of no outdoor practices, and a possible show cancellation made their performances even more special.

But, after a full day, I had some free time so I stayed to watch RCC.

WOW!!! They were awesome. I got a few photos, but there was no way to capture the energy, excitement, and spectacle. You had to be there.

You can check out some of the pics at:

The candid photos of the high school competition were taken for another company and I have turned them over to them. Your band director or booster club will probably be contacted about how to purchase them.

There were photos of all the bands, including Trabuco Hills.

Since I am an unofficial booster this year, no kid at North, in the BSR, can you provide me with the name of the company I can order photos from? :D :D :D :D

If you send me a private message I will respond. I'm not familiar enough with the marching band world to know if giving out a name and contact information is a violation of some agreement/arrangement between the organizers of the show and their sponsors.

All I care about is, "what did you like about the tiger band photos what would you like to see that I didn't capture?" I will be making these photos available to RCC for use on its web site.

I know thatI would like to see some pictures that capture a few more people. I tend to prefer pictures that just how clean they are as an ensemble. I think that a camera at the middle or top of the stadium in addition to the close-up camera would be great.

Those are the shots that friends and family should get. :D :

If I can get an assistant at the next show I will set up a tripod and have them take shots like that.

Don't you usually get that view from the videotapes?

Always a great group, as I am sad to not be a apart of them this school year.

Thank you for taking the time to post these photo.

But man, with the size group they had, they must have had some major uniform problems as I'm seeing a lot of Yamato uniform pieces mixed in with RCC's. I heard they had new uniforms in the purchasing process from last I was in the band room (last June...I think), so hopefully they'll have them before the TOR parade. It'll be a larger group for the parade.

let me clarify...I tend to like photos that are 4-10 people....not the entire field. I know that you can do an ameture video (most places do not offer video services) however I live in Texas, and can not be out there to video. I just thought it would be an interesting idea for me.

I think that I know what you mean. Thanks for the input. Take a look at:

http://www.ajacobsphotography.com/jacobband/

there are a few images like numbers 4810 and 4591 that reflect what you mean.

I will incorporate more of those the next time I shoot. I agree, they do a better job of illustrating the teamwork and precision needed within a marching band.
