Good news for NCBA winter percussion
Yesterday at the NCBA general meeting, Brian Aguilar was voted in as the new VP of Winter Activates. He also was appointed the chair of a task force/committee who’s job is to … for lack of a better explanation look into the current state of NCBA winter activates including winter percussion and well fix it. I am also part of this committee and I am confident that the committee with take the necessary steps to correct a lot of the issues that we’ve been hearing about the circuit.
Side note: The winter percussion proposals I submitted have not been voted on yet. So, I am still looking for input from folks out there. I am not trying to turn NCBA into WGI. I am just trying to modernize, standardize and improve NCBA in a way that I believe would benefit everyone from the students, to the instructors to the adjudicators.

Re: Good news for NCBA winter percussion
To clarify, the task forse will be looking at all areas of the marching activity in NCBA, not just winter. Fall (street and field), spring (street), and winter (guard and perc).
We shall be examining the consistency of rankings and ratings of units (looking at trends and examining numbers) and will evaluate the accessibility, clarity, and efficiency of the judging sheets.
We will make recommendations to the board at the January meeting. Recommendations may potentially include such things as rewriting certain (or all) sheets, presenting new sheets, training of adjudicators (how and what to train on and whether to mandate it), adopting unified philosophies as a judging community, etc.
It is a very broad committee. I hope to break it down into logical sub-committees and do thorough investingating which will lead to solid recommendations to the board.

Before you start your celebration just remember you have to get this by the board with their millions of proxy votes. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Brian....you have been around long enough to see how NCBA works. You should know that your efforts, at best, will be difficult.

After a long, and not so hot summer, the possibility of change seems remote. This is my first post, please to understand, I always hold out hope for change. Time passes..........

Congratulations Brian. If I didn't have Saturday rehearsal I would have been there. Don't believe in the proxy voting thing .... so I would not have sent in my vote with someone. Brian, you are donig a great job keep it up. I do understand "clarinetking's" posting. From recent experience...I DO UNDERSTAND. Thanks for all the work you are doing!!!
Looking forward to the DHS WINTERPERCUSSION SHOW.
Again, many congratulations and enjoy the final days of your vacation!!!

Is there any chance that the drum major caption will be examined. No offense to the judges, but it's also been very frustrating and stressful for the drum majors that compete.
