I'm gonna be there, and looking forward to it! I know Pleasant Grove HS is attending... not sure of any others though.

Great start for every line that was out there today! But I have to say IMHO for Open class they have 1st and 2nd flipped flopped big time.

Why did Bethel bother doing an NCBA show? Wasn't there a WGI regional in Ceres? Actually, why did Springstowne and Fairfield bother with NCBA? Isn't it time for all of them to go play in the "big boy" circuit?

Im Wondering why is Granite Bay in standing percussion i saw there show last year and it looked like they were way to good to just be in standing percussion.

We have a demanding fall program and some kids want a break for winter.

That's all.

Sometimes local schools do that to support each other, even if they might compete in another circuit. Rodriguez HS is in the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District as well, so it's a way of helping each other out.

Here are some examples, past and present...

1. Amador Valley HS used to attend the Foothill Band Review for many years, even though they competed in WSMBC (now WBA).

2. San Benito HS also sent their JV/Varsity Guards + Percussion unit to the Wilcox Winter Show even though they primarily compete in CCGC. The correlation is that the San Benito directors used to teach at Wilcox, so it is like a homecoming, as well as showing support.

3. Fremont, Lynbrook, and Homestead HS also compete in the annual Cupertino TOB show even they are all mostly field bands and compete heavily in WBA.

So those are just some examples. Plus it is a local show, and an opportunity to perform in competition mode in front of of family and friends. Also it could just be a fun venue to perform at?
Once a drum major, always a drum major.

and not only that but another issue could of course be money. Entry fees for WGI at the least are around $250, while theres just a simple $80 for NCBA.
If we do the unthinkable, would it make us look crazy?

...including transportation. Busing is by far the biggest expense in my group's budget. If there was a nearby show that could save us money on transportation, we'd consider it.

Good job to all the lines on Sat. It was pretty intense. BUT I agree with Slaphappy7 about the open class 1 and 2 being flip flopped. Losing by .9? I smell home court advantage. But I guess we'll see the real score at the Logan regional yeah?

Big props to Bethel though for stepping up their game. They're looking really classy this year and really are on top of their stuff. Oh and another big props to Rod for stepping up to open!
