CLARIFICATION FOR THE READING AND HISTORICALLY IMPAIRED HERE

Post by Ryan H. Turner » Tue Oct 20, 2009 9:47 pm

--sigh--

In another thread, entitled "Mystikal Staff Resigns", I name previous (IMPORTANT WORD) corps' that have made bad management decisions and folded. I name of course the Velvet Knights.

I can't believe some people are that lame-brained to have skipped Drum Corps History 101 and have gone on to assume that I meant THE CURRENT VELVET KNIGHTS, and then, instead of maybe asking for a clarification or coming to me directly (because I know it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO difficult to track me down and talk/type/text/PM/IM me), went DIRECTLY TO THE CURRENT VK to make sure they were ok because "Turner is saying things on WOP".

--sigh--

I was referring to the PREVIOUS incarnation of the Velvet Knights that were led down a path of crap by He Who Must Never Be Mentioned. It's only been a part of drum corps history since the incident and circumstances occurred. It caused a HUGE backlash from people that were dismayed by what happened, and some hurt feelings among some of us vets who were completely and utterly ignored. But it also created an opportunity for Impulse to be created, and THAT organization did WONDERS for bringing back drum corps to southern California.

So to be clear...and I'll keep it in small one syllable words...

The VK of today is FINE. I wasn't talking about them. And next time, come to me and ask questions, and don't rile up an entire organization with stupid emails and phone calls.

Wait a minute...I'm confused. So VK folded, and then merged with Mystical, but now Ryan H. Turner is bringing VK back next season and will be the Executive Director?

Ryan, I'm not following you, can you clarify please?

That reminds me of a story--at the fire department I was talking to a friend, and the words "....move to Houston" were heard coming from me by another dispatcher in the room. A few days later, I seriously had ANOTHER dispatcher come up to me and ask, "Why are you moving to Texas?" I am, I asked. And the story was that I was sick of the O.C. and was moving to Texas.

So....yes....I am the new Executive Director of the Santa Clara Vanguard, and I'm hiring Michael Gaines to write the percussion book because he's too good at drill design anymore and I need to challenge him in other aspects of the activity.

Awesome. You should hire Elizabeth Ortiz to write your drill and teach the guard :jester:

This LITERALLY made me :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: because I INSTANTLY thought of my dad who used to say the same dang thing when my mom would launch into a rant about one thing or another...but he did it usually by holding his forehead and rolling his eyes up into his head. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Sorry Vore--you took the place of Wally Turner there for a brief moment.

You should be honored.
