RCC Announces New Color Guard Staff and Audition Dates for Fall Season!
http://www.rccband.org

What’s the obvious answer to the question “what’s new at RCC?” That’s easy: LOTS! Just come out to the fall color guard tryouts – set to begin on Monday night, August 17 at 6pm – and you’ll find out! In a major ‘new beginning’ for the color guard staff, there will be some old familiar faces AND some new ones – who are “coming home.” Don’t miss out! Spread the word! There’s a new attitude at the college!

Headed up by Tim Mikan, a former member of Fantasia and a former member of the fall & winter staff, the new collection of instructors is causing a ‘buzz’ among the color guard community! Tim writes drill for various groups in other states and teaches at Mission Viejo and Los Alamitos HS, while doing a lot with the summer organization Marching Auxiliaries. In addition to Tim, who will oversee all parts of the program, Robbie Jacobson will be re-joining the staff! Everyone in SoCal knows Robby as the “friendly Rancho Bernardo guy,” who also teaches at Mission Viego. This summer, he’s been busy as a staff member with the Concord Blue Devils. He’s also a past member of 6-time WGI Champion Fantasia and a former staff member of both fall and winter programs at RCC.

In a story that should read “local boy makes good,” it’s going to be exciting to welcome back John Escalante as one of the choreographers for the new guard. John was born and raised in So Cal and marched in both the fall and winter programs at RCC before going off to perform with Santa Clara, and later, The Cadets. He’s taught at Clovis West and Centerville and now resides in Las Vegas, where he makes his living as a professional dancer. Most people might not know that he is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts, in Seatle.

And, last but not least, Chris Velez is also returning – after many years of teaching elsewhere. Chris is a former performing member of both the fall program and Fantasia and has been working with the award-winning drum line at RCC, helping them with movement. Chris will be a tech with the guard, while helping the horn line become better movers. What a great combination of talent – all people who have performed together before, and understand the traditions of excellence at the college!

Don’t Let This Chance Pass You By! * Mark Your Calendar! * Bring A Friend!

RCC Fall Color Guard tryouts are set to begin on Monday night, August 17 at 6pm in the stadium!

Nope. What you just read was misinformation. Fantasia only releases information to confuse us. They're actually starting a barbershop chorus.

And I'm the conductor.

Don't buy into this winter guard malarky.
