DCI World Class Age-Outs

Post by Hostrauser » Fri Aug 14, 2009 10:58 am

When looking towards next year, it can be worth noting how many of their 150 members a corps has to replace. The numbers so far...

From DCP...
43 - Blue Devils
27 - Blue Stars
32 - Bluecoats
52 - Carolina Crown (including 24 rook-outs)
21 - Colts
23 - Crossmen
27 - Glassmen
59 - Holy Name Cadets
15 - Jersey Surf
14 - Pacific Crest
8 - Pioneer
42 - Santa Clara Vanguard
18 - Spirit
19 - The Academy
26 - Troopers

Is a rook-out when someone quits before aging out?

Exactly: their first year and last year are one and the same.

yes, they are a "rookie" in the corps from which they age out. A first year member is a "rookie" no matter how long they performed with another corps. This is what Hostrouser and I both said.

Well, it's what I meant, at least. I admit upon re-read that my post wasn't clear enough.

So, a rook-out can be:
A) a person who has never marched before, marching their age-out year.
B) a person who marched year(s) with Corp A (say, Pioneer), but then switches to Corp B (say, The Cavaliers) for their age-out year. Corp B would consider them a rook-out.
