DCI Championships DVD

Post by Guard-Dad » Thu Jun 25, 2009 12:19 pm

Quick question for those that have purchased this in the past. First off, is it really almost $100?!?! WOW  (Much more then the $35 paid for Top 15 SW Finalists at WGI)

Next, it states on at least the 2008 DVD the full dates of championships (Aug 7-9, 2008).

Do you only get the finals performance of the top 12 or do you also get Quarters and Semis?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's usually $98. I usually buy the DVD/CD combo for $129.

You only get the finals performances of the Top 12, but you get both multi-camera and high camera versions, plus show versions with selected commentary tracks (show designers, judges on the field, etc.)

Pricey, perhaps, but worth a once-a-year purchase, in my book. That's why I own VHS or DVDs of every DCI Finals back to 1987.

Dunno if it still happens, but the corps get a say as to which performance (quarters/semis/finals) goes on the media.

I thought that was only the case if something egregious went wrong during Finals?

Mainly SCV. Garfield should not have won that year: one overwhelmingly powerful section does not a drum corps make.

I can't watch 87 VK again until I succeed in scrubbing that Facebook profile pic you used the other day out of my brain. :help:

Mah dvd's arrived last night thanks to Mr. UPS dude. I breezed through the Top 7 last night, and woke up to Blue Stars & watching Phantom now.

Love Boston's show.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the high-cam shots are a little on the low side.
