MCM Vs Rhythm X vs RCC 2009!

Post by Steven » Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:12 pm

Anyone seen the youtube/replay videos or anything live? Any thoughts on who will win?

Rhythm X is huge, 10 snares 5 quads 5 bass 8 cym? I lost track. The show is touch and they touch things like their drums, each other, the floor. When they all move togerher it has a huge impact. I think they have the better quadline, but not by much.

MCM is smaller 9 Snares 4 quads 5 bass 5 cym. There is something very "raw amazing drumline/pit" about this show. They dont have the same huge weight that Rhythm X is carrying but I think they more than make up for it with the velocity and individual performer demand on the drill. The drill design seems similar to past MCM shows but I think the realization of the concepts is better than I have seen it since??? Oh ya, HOT snare rolls for this point in the season.

MCM beat Rhythm X both in prelims and finals. Rhythm X did manage to take the performance caption in finals. I would have had them in the same order after seeing the shows.

Anyone seen RCC and Pulse? I saw they were close at the corona show.

Edit: MCM has 9 snares

I think its a toss up right now and could go either way. Both groups had great moments. Rhythm X's quads are pretty sick though, and their snares weren't half bad either.

I only saw some sectional videos of RCC's snares so i can't really judge yet. I'd have to see their show in order to compare them to everyone else at this point.

PIW is amazingly competitive these days. Every year there are more groups and the quality increases every year.
I have seen MCM, RX, and RCC on the fan network and am really impressed with all of them. You can't really tell everything that's going on in those vids though.
I saw Pulse live at the SCPA show on February 7 and was very impressed. They have taken their design and performance up a level, and their energy is manic and contageous. They're on the way up.
However, I am hoping for RCC to win big (Go Mikey).

Got a chance to see everyone on replay. MCM is becoming my favorite for sure. RCC seems to much like mission viejo from last year to me. The drill also isn't really on par with MCM or rhythm x. Im sure seeing them live adds a whole nother' aspect though.

MCM
Rhythm X
RCC
...has anyone seen Blue Knights this year?

RCC on replay was only somewhat exciting, but seeing them last night was an altogether different experience!
It's a really exciting show, and there is a lot of subtlety that you can't catch on replay. I'm sure that's the case with all the shows, and I agree that MCM is jamming, but RCC will be a contender for the title with this truly exciting show.

I was there last night as well at the SCPA show...
I felt RCC was really doing some pretty crazy stuff out in the lot, but they still had a pretty exciting performance in the gym with the whole show.

My opinion with Pulse and RCC is that RCC just goes all out kind of and does harder stuff. Pulse is still good nevertheless though.

Just watched the updated shows on The Fan Network. The new editions that MCM added to their show are great! Same with North Coast Academy. Their show is among the top ranks as well. Can't wait to watch the new and improved RCC show after this weekend.

I'm really coming around on Rhythm X's show. My group is doing a show with the same title "touch", with some similarities in concept while still completely different. Anyway, I am really digging how they're playing. MCM is also pretty awesome and really exciting. I saw Blue Knights for the first time, and was impressed but not blown away. When I marched, there really wasn't a ton of quality out there, just a few groups playing great. Now there are twice as many PIW groups, and groups like Pulse, Redline, and North Coast are all throwing down in a huge way.

So after checking out some lot stuff...maybe RCC wins because they have such a good quad line with some super/cool funky beats? I think MCM has to much narration now but I was never a fan of super literal shows. Rhythm X isn't clean yet. I agree about blue knights, wasn't blown away.

My Predictions...
Top 3:
MCM
RCC
RythmX

4-6:
Pulse
Blue Knights
North Coast

Man so Rhythm X repeats with RCC behind them and then MCM. I honestly didn't think that would be the ending results. But hey good job to Pulse on placing 4th

yea congrats on everyones show this year...i was at SCPA finals, RCC was intense as (explicit).... I wasnt too sure about Rhythm X's show, but it was very cool idea...I definatly love Tim Jackson RX...rather than him being in it..

ps- with his splitting something in EVERY solo the quads had, previous RX...

PIW had a good year this year. There were quite a few lines that blew me away, and you have to love the North Coast Academy Cym line. The visuals were chill, but the splits were freakin' sweet.

As for visual design, MCM was my favourite hands down. That ending set is still stuck in my head.

I still keep humming the melody from Pulse's show, and I'm glad to see them taking such a prominent role on the national stage.

Congrats to all of the lines that performed and threw down this weekend. I hope to see this activity to grow even more exciting next year, even though it will be hard to top what happened on saturday.

PIW was amazing!

RX actually set a record as well...they have the highest score in history now...and they earned it. Sweet show!

Rcc and MCM threw down as well though and deserve major respect!
