What is the worst thing to happen to you in a field season? Was it at a competition?

haha one day at practise, before a set was changed, we had to go a really far distance in a really short time.. so we get counted off to do this one set.. and the mello next to me just turned and went into a full on sprint to get to his spot.. no jazz running or any attempt to run in step.. just sprinted as fast as he could.. one of the funniest things ive ever seen on the field.. oh this was in practise by the way..

There is a thread that is similar to this, about embarrassing band moments.

It is a tradition within my drumline to march with the zippers down. At one football game, bass 2 in my line, didnt wear shorts underneath his uniform. He was "peeking out" the entire performance, it was pretty funny.

the worst thing ive had happen to me at a practice is we were marching a set and we were going really really fast and i had to hit my spot and then go almost exactly the other way, i put to much weight on my knee and it popped out in the middle of the closer, i had to pop it in on the next step i took, really really hurt

my freshmen year we went to vegas for regionals. it was in 2001, and they held regionals really early for some reason. anyways, it was our first ever performance of the show and it was for prelims. the pageantry had streamers they were using during the ballad, and after they were done, someone left one on the field. i was marching along like nobodies business and the streamer got wrapped around my foot and stayed there for a good 10 or 15 seconds, and i was stumbling all over it and the judge that was by me was having a fit, lol. nice way for ur first ever performance to go...

well last year at championships the flute section had to do a turn at a certain count of the song we were doing everyone except the person in front of me did it right...it was funny because she said S***. everyone kinda noticed and said that we probably got second place because of her ...

come to think of it i heard that previous years during a rehearsal a horn player fell down...the first thing the director asked him after he fell was " is my horn okay?" and just recently a tuba and a baritone player fell down. and the list of embarrassing moment goes on from players who during a competition broke their clarinet reed when they were marching, to when the flute player accidentally chucked her flute headpiece across the field...

speaking of drummers i remember that during a football game during halftime we played and since the drummer wear their harnesses under their uniform a players harness made his uniform look pointy from a certain area and so the people that were right in front of us started laughing because they thought he had a boner....HOW EMBARASSING............... LOL   :D :P :? :!:

I never told mine. It was in the middle of a drumbreak and a hault. I step off and play 4 counts too early. The director was not exactly happy.

The Ramp

Post by Snflwer311 » Mon Oct 20, 2003 7:48 pm

My high school always uses a ramp in their field show. Last year, we (the colorguard) were wearing these dresses where the bottom half was white and we also were wearing ballet shoes. At the Westminster show the field was kinda muddy and I had a duet dance on top of the ramp. The other girl and I were supposed to run off scared of the oncoming sword fight. Well on my way down I lost my footing and went down hard. I got back up so fast because the other girl was right behind me. That was only the 2nd song in the show and I had to go the rest of it in pain and with mud all over my skirt.

Not to mention that a mom got it on tape and on Monday during class we watched it over and over and over.

That ramp was evil. It causes many embarrassing moments for us.

Really really big flags + 2 step intervals + really really thick fog = madness.
