I LOVE IT!! I love CLA--I have had the good fortune twice over the last 10 years to "sub" for Greg Solomon, and I think CLA is a great way to get a group of kids from one organization together to learn more from talented instructors but to ALSO network with other like-minded student leaders. VERY cool stuff.
But you know what I really like about CLA's website?
That picture on the homepage right there is a pic of the back of my head on one of the camps I subbed for Greg!! LOL!!!

I knew I recognized that melon
My school doesn't really do much leadership training, unfortunately. There ends up being such a vast gap in how different leader handle things. Some of the other leaders realize how easy they've been at too late of a time and are doomed to a role without respect. That happened a lot last year. They ended up going to the most feared section leader in band and having him hold a sectional once. just once. Mostly we try to pick people that we see as being natural leaders. (Usually doesn't work out well)

Re: Leadership Training
Every band should do CLA. My school did it for the first time this summer and the group of leaders that went really enjoyed it. Its a great place to meet new people and become really confident with ones leadership skills.

if you go you can tell them that adrianna kruk, the 5 year vet, recommended u to go. they'll b super nice to u haha.

Re: Leadership Training
My school doesn't do shizzle for leadership training. The only leaders who get any training are the drum majors. I really think that the entire leadership should go to leadership camps though.
