Go read "Ishmael" a novel by Daniel Quinn. It will literally change your life.

I could understand 22 years in a 5 star hotels penthouse suit but Travelodge... come on. 100,000 pounds (about $200,000) is waaaaaaaay too much to spend on a hotel room anyway.

It's not such a bad deal. With the woman's disability and the man's age, they're really in almost as good a spot as a senior citizens' home.

Please note that U.S. Travelodge and U.K. Travelodge are not owned and operated by the same company. The U.K. Travelodges are a star or two higher in quality, probably more comparable with a Holiday Inn or the like here in the U.S.

Over 22 years? You think you can live in the U.S. for only $9,000 a year for Rent AND Utilities?

I'm not saying it's my cup of tea, but the couple is pretty ingenious. Did you see the part in the article that stated because they book for so long, so far in advance, they get a special 15 GBP/night rate (roughly $30/night)?

Ok, I will definitely have to admit that $30 per night is a great deal but, it still isn't something that I would care to do. I guess that spending $200000 and having nothing to show for it is something I just don't understand. At least if I spent $200000 on a home hopefully, I would be in it for a while and it would appraise at a higher value when I sold it.
