Top 3 Wind Ensembles / Orchestras?

Post by GL Falker » Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:25 am

We get so caught up in marching season that we forget where true musicianship and talent are showcased. Who, in your opinion, are the top three wind ensembles and orchestras in California?

In no particular order:

Wind Ensembles
Thousand Oaks
Rancho Bernardo
James Logan

Orchestras
Arcadia
Santa Monica
Rancho Bernardo

Is this california, nation-wide, or does it not matter?
Well, honestly, I haven't listened to too many groups in the past couple of years, but I have a few fav's from CA:

In no order:
Benicia HS(specifically under Roxanna Macheel, but they are still sounding absolutely amazing! And I might be a bit biased since I'm an alumni  )
James Logan HS(what aren't they good at?)
Rancho Bernardo HS
Benicia High School C/O '05

i do agree with ben although i am a little bias as well, the benicia high wind ensemble under Mrs. Macheel was quite good and played some extremely hard selection at an exceptional level.

I would say that 2 years ago, and probably last year, we(Clovis) had a better wind ensemble than James Logan.

Y'know, your director could be reading your post at any point in time.

That really is a little creepy...

Anyways, I think that both Rancho Bernardo and Mount Carmel have outstanding Wind Ensebles.
