I have to say that last play was a little iffy. I don't think he touched home plate as he slid by, and then the umpire waited so long to call him safe. Oh well, what can you do?
oh, and GO CUBS!!!

Two run lead with the 2nd best closer in baseball history on the mound and they still lose.
That's Padres baseball!

He might not have, but does it really matter? Hoffman gave up two runs and had men on base without recording a single out. Even if Holliday is out at home, there's only one out and men are still in scoring position. The game was over.JediMasterBando wrote:I have to say that last play was a little iffy. Meh, Baseball. Not the most exciting thing to watch out there, but nothing beats going to a game with some people...muching on a hot dog and counting the pimples on the neck of the guy sitting in front of you.

I guess you haven't been to Petco Park. The neck in front of you is at knee-level: you have to go out of your way to count zits. But hey, if that's what floats your boat.formermarcher wrote:Meh, Baseball. I know baseball's an acquired taste, but it will always be #1 in my book.

I couldn't agree more. There's just something about sitting in the sunshine of a warm afternoon, eating a hot dog, and trying to remember how to keep score on a scorecard while a great game of baseball is going on. My temple is Wrigley Field, but I've been very impressed with Petco Park so far. It doesn't seem like there's really a bad seat in the place. For the past few years I've gone to at least one game while the Cubs are in town in May. I even skipped my Senior Prom to go to a game with my sister.Hostrauser wrote: I know baseball's an acquired taste, but it will always be #1 in my book.

I skipped my Senior Prom because I looked at the price tag that went along with it and said, "**** that." I don't regret my decision.mkosbie wrote:I'm not sure this is something I would readily admit in public.JediMasterBando wrote:I even skipped my Senior Prom to go to a game with my sister.
But back to the topic. Watching baseball on TV is about as fun as watching mud dry. Going to a baseball game on the other hand I do enjoy, for some reason I'm able to get into the game more when I'm actually there, but when I'm at home watching TV, I'm just pissed off that the game is in the 18th inning and my regularly scheduled programming is not being shown. For that reason I don't follow baseball, but will attend games when the opportunity presents itself. Here's a list of my Fav. sports to watch, in order:
Basketball (NBA only)
NASCAR
Football (NFL and NCAA)
Those three are the sports I follow very closely and enjoy watching immensely. I also somewhat follow and enjoy watching:
Tennis
Volleyball
F1/Arca/IRL
Golf
I feel like there are others, but I'm just forgetting them right now. I don't ever watch soccer, and I down right refuse to watch baseball on TV.
Go read "Ishmael" a novel by Daniel Quinn. It will literally change your life.

I proudly admit it in public... I guess it's just part of being a true Cubs fan.mkosbie wrote:I'm not sure this is something I would readily admit in public.JediMasterBando wrote:I even skipped my Senior Prom to go to a game with my sister.

That's kinda funny, since I can't stand the NBA. I like college basketball well enough (mostly because I love playing in pep band and getting to be obnoxious I think ), I just never really got into it at the pro level. The Aceman wrote: Here's a list of my Fav. sports to watch, in order:
