Hey,
I noticed that many people have "vet/section leader/DM" music notes by their username.
How do you change yours?

The music notes are determined automatically based on the number of posts you have on the boards. It's kind of a "ranking" system. I'm not positive of these rank numbers (so don't quote me!) but they're something like this:

POSTS RANK
-----------------------
1 + New Recruit
25 + Rookie
100 + Veteran
300 + Section Leader
500 + Drum Major
It's 5:00... do you know where your ancestors came from?

The list really goes like this:

10 + New Recruit
50 + Rookie
250 + Veteran
500 + Section Leader
1000 + Drum Major

You should heard the cries of foul when I upgraded these totals a couple of years ago. :cry2:

Maybe I should increase them again... what do you all think? Its getting too easy from some folks to rack up the postings and reach these levels.

I've always thought that there's not enough distance between Rookie and Veteran. If you ask me, it should be at least 500 posts between those two. Of course if you changed that, you would have to increase the distance between Veteran / Section Leader, and Section Leader / Drum Major as well. 8-)

Possibly add a couple of levels above Drum Major?

Support Staff is taken, lol, that's the title on the mods. I'm all for increasing the number of posts required AND for adding new levels above Drum Major like FSQ said. But in the end I suppose it doesn't really matter. I know a lot of forum have it set up so you can use the default title or add your own custom one.

That does sound good. But who really takes post counts as something important here?

And maybe insted of Support Staff, maybe something along the lines of Caption Head/Tech? Something that is still related to bands and inbetween Asst and a DM.

Isn't "The Voice of Southern California" just another way of saying "Grand Poobah Big Mouth"? 8-)

I think we need to modify the database manually just so RHT can have his title be "Grand Poobah Big Mouth". That would be great.
