My three bands did quite well.
Amboy and Forest Lawn got top music scores in their divisions. Although Amboy got a higher music score than Forest Lawn, but Forest Lawn also took the highest Music GE score in class. My third band, Central, is run as a band from 1953. Using a 1948 marching band textbook I got at a garage sale, I am using it to help me with them. I don't use anything that's not mentioned in it.

Yes, I am Ministry of Silence. I debated making several bands like LoyalTubist, but kept it to one.
I was 4th of 8 at my competition and 16th out of 40 in Division III nationally. Not as good as I had hoped nor as bad as I had feared.
We'll see how far I can take this show design. I'm beginning to see that the number/quality of charts, books, and instructors you select at the start of the year has a fair impact. The rest of it, of course, is luck: hoping those stats go up by three every time you spend an hour on them.
My next competition isn't until Saturday. Guess I'll wait and see how everyone else does this week.

I'm not sure. Not to a great extent, at the very least. I've seen some very high scoring bands (mid-60s) with percussion and guard scores in the 20s, and some low scoring bands (below 50) with percussion and guard scores in the 90s. I think they are completely independent captions, put in the game for "fun"... but I wouldn't be surprised if they did have a small effect on the Effect scores.Flying bird wrote:Does percussion and color guard affect your score?? I think I might have been using too music time on those captions.

Did you spend all of your hours on nothing to just raise morale?Hostrauser wrote:WOW. Ministry of Silence shot up to 63.48 today, with a 22.09 in Music. That was the second highest music score of the day, all competitions, all divisions (88 ensembles total), and my first caption win!
Soldiering On!
