Hey,
I'm Fox, I'm a Sergeant in the Air Training Corps over in sunny England!
I've recently taken on the role of Drum Major of my Squadrons marching band.
Unfortunately in England we don't take marching bands and stuff as seriously as you guys, so I was hoping you could give me some tips on being a drum major.
I'm basically looking for a guide how to do simple spins and throws with my mace to impress the crowd.
Are there any good websites or guides that are suitable for use?
Thanks alot,
Some tips for a new Drum Major...?
Fox,
A good friend of mine, Alastair Pether, runs a great website over in the U.K.-maybe you've heard of him? He's a very well accomplished drum major for the Royal Airforce of Halton. I know he's got some quicktime files of basic flourishes and marching and deportment. His website is http://www.drummajor.co.uk
Another good colleague, Paul Olson, runs an extremely informative website, Regimental Drum Major Association, that has plenty of resources which will also steer you in the right direction. http://www.drummajor.net
Hopefully you've been to either one already, but if not, I hope they can be of use to you!
