Dci videos

Post by Chuey » Thu Aug 07, 2003 4:10 pm

Hey everyone

Im putting a video together to teach new comers about DCI , the trick is I have to have it through a computer , so the projecter will work.. AND i got a line..

I have many dvd's ... hmm I need to put it in computer format..

I know many computer cd drives can play dvds, but I need to be able to edit the videos with some programs to combine many high points in shows , to make it go faster

( rather than playing 100 dci videos)

Anyone know how I can do this?

OR does anyone have a site that has some videos to download in computer format..

like wmv, avi, mpeg, quicktime.. divx .. u name it..

Thanks all!

Try downloading "Adobe Premiere". It's good for editing video and such.

I think Adobe has a trial version on their site. http://www.adobe.com

This would be the legal way to go. Your project is in the best interest, but if you do it by copying DCI DVDs, you may end up doing more harm than good to your organization if DCI gets the word that you are doing this.

Make sure (if anything else) you have a letter granting permission to use the video by DCI before you go about using it. Your organization should know how to do this.

Ok here is how you should go about doing this. Try to get permisson. Then take those DVD's and play them on a regular DVD payer. take an a/v adaptor from the DVD player into a Digital Video Camera. Put in a tape and hit record at the same time you hit play on the DVD player. I believe most of the DCI DVD's do not have the encryption to disallow the copying of the DVD. Then you take those highlights that are on the DV tape and import them to your Film Editing program using a fire wire or a usb modulator (dazzle). Then arrange them in the order you want them. For the best results and quickest way to arrange them I reccomend imovie by apple. But if you have a PC then you will have to use Adobe Premiere.

Hope that this info is not too abstract. PM me if you have any questions.
